HOLY CROSS MINISTRIES & OTHER GROUPS TO GET INVOLVED WITH:

Holy Cross is blessed to be home to many missions and ministries.  Here are a few that may be of interest to you and who you can contact with questions.  All groups would love to have you join their team and/or volunteer your time.

LWML: Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is a national organization to which Holy Cross is proud to be a part of.  It is a women’s group dedicated to supporting local and global missions.  It is also a great opportunity for fellowship with other Holy Cross women. (Maria Keil: mariak430@gmail.com)

Altar Guild:  This ministry cares for and prepares the altar for Worship.  (Sharon Withrow: (316) 681-2993)

Greeter Program: Our greeters are an important part of welcoming members and guests to Worship each week. Schedules are flexible.   (Jared Wendt: (608) 630-7236 or jaredjwendt@gmail.com)

Usher Program:  Holy Cross Ushers help our members and guests experience the sacredness and joy of worship by welcoming them into the Sanctuary, keeping order during service and providing assistance as needed.  (Jim Huntley: (316) 265-9563 or jhuntley@glmv.com)

Health Ministry: This ministry provides physical and spiritual health support to our congregation including blood pressure checks and blood drives. (Marna Atkinson: mjatkinson50@gmail.com )

Blessing Place: Our Church Nursery is always looking for volunteers that enjoy working with children.  Teens and Young Adults are invited to volunteer as well. (Patti Scales: pmscales66@gmail.com)

Singles: The ages and circumstances of those who have and continue to participate in Singles vary widely. Single, divorced and widowed adults all find fellowship in our group. (Events and contact information can be found on their newsletter.  Pick one up in the Church Office or Visitor’s Center)

Guatemala Mission Team:  Holy Cross is proud to support the children and families of Zacapa, Guatemala by providing education opportunities as well as medical care through mission trips and financial support. (Linda Tape: (316) 259-5452 or ltape3232@gmail.com)

IFC: The International Friendship Center is a program that invites refugees and immigrants to Holy Cross for beginning English and Sewing Classes as well as fellowship and to learn about the love of Jesus.  Volunteers are always needed.  (Lynette Bosch: lbosch@holycrosslutheran.net)

Adult Choir: Help us praise the Lord through music.  This talented group of individuals is always looking for additional members.  (Teresa Hauschild: michaelhauschild@att.net)

Praise Band: If you are a singer or musician and are interested in being a part of our Contemporary Worship Praise Band this group is for you. (Cassidy Cheray: ccheray@holycrosslutheran.net)

Bell Choir: The Bell Choir participates in worship services on a monthly basis.  The five-octave choir rehearses weekly (except during the summer) on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m (Church Office: 684-5201)

MINISTRIES & GROUPS CONTINUED…

Lutheran Braille Workers: Volunteers come together weekly in fellowship and service as they use special braille plates to create pages of the Bible in braille.  (Susan Rathgeber: (316) 685-8516 )

Stephen Ministries:  This transitional support ministry helps guide individuals through life changes such as death, empty nesting, job loss and more.  (Pastor Snow: ssnow@holycrosslutheran.net)

Cooks for Christ:  This group of faithful volunteers prepares meals, provides transportation, and serves as a support team for those going through difficult times. (Maria Keil: mariak430@gmail.com)

REGULAR EVENTS AND OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES:

1st Wednesday: Homeless Meal: Volunteers are needed to prepare the meal and/or serve the meal at Open Door Community Food Ministry.  (Sharon Pauls: sharonpauls57@gmail.com)

2nd Saturday: 2nd Saturday Fellowship Meal.  After Worship on the 2nd Saturday of every month we host a fellowship meal for families & visitors.  Volunteers are always needed to cook, serve, and setup or cleanup. (Jessica Hegeman: jlj417@yahoo.com)

2nd & 4th Tuesday: Care Night:  The care night team sends letters to new visitors in the neighborhood and “thinking of you” cards to visitors.  (Sara Schubert: sschubert@holycrosslutheran.net)

Sewing Sisters: Sew simple items for people in need.  Please bring your machine and scissors if you have them.  (Connilee Myers: (316) 684-0626 or dnconnilee@cox.net)

Mommy Mingle:  A fellowship time for moms.  Held in the Blessing Place for any moms who may have young children with them.  (Katie Nelson: (719) 238-2459 or  k8emaxnelson@gmail.com)

Senior Game Day: A time of fellowship and fun for seniors. (Gwen Hillis: (316) 687-1137)

Young Adult Men’s Basketball: This fun fellowship time takes place on most Thursdays in the Holy Cross Gym (Brian Amey: bdamey@holycrosslutheran.net)

Book Club: Read a book chosen by the club independently and then come together for fellowship and discussion. (Connilee Myers: (316) 684-0626 or dnconnilee@cox.net)

Grab a Bag Weekend:  Simply fill the bag with non-perishable items and return it the following weekend.  All donations are taken to the Grace Lutheran Food Bank. (Darla Personey: (316) 619-7869)

Lord’s Diner: This group of volunteers come together to help serve meals to those in need at the Lord’s Diner Food Bank (Maria Kiel: mariak430@gmail.com)
