“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved!”
Divine Savior Church was one of the earliest Lutheran Churches established in the interior of Guatemala. In 1953 they added a day school in Zacapa and eventually a high school in 1978. Children’s Christian Concern Society (now Lead A Child) had its origin at this school.
Holy Cross began partnering with Divine Savior in 2013 and have visited four times sharing faith and encouragement. Each of these trips has brought needed physical and spiritual care to over 1000 adults and children.
In 2015 Holy Cross and Divine Savior began sponsoring 10 children who live at the landfill through “Lights For Christ” providing the children with transportation, education, and health care. In 2018 we began pastoral support to assist in employing a mission pastor.
Three of the trips to Guatemala were medial teams that brought supplies and basic aid to the community.
