Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings. Let US hold unswervingly to the hope WE profess, for He Who promised is faithful. And let US consider how WE may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”  Hebrews 10:22-24

I pray…. “I thank You, my Heavenly Father, that Your Holy Spirit draws me near to You each day through faith in Jesus Christ my Savior! Cleanse my heart from all guilt and fear. A Word of Hope and Comfort from God’s Word

Throughout many of the days of his life, David – the shepherd, the warrior and the greatest King of Israel – knew days which were discomforting, disquieting and anxious. Above it all, he trusted God’s Word of promise and Peace. By faith David said, “May Your unfailing love be MY comfort, according to You promise to Your servant. Let Your compassion come to ME that I may live, for Your law is MY delight.” Psalm 119:76-77

We pray…. “Lord of all comfort, like David, I am living through days which make me discomforted, disquieted and anxious. Forgive my weakness and help me to trust wholeheartedly in Your unfailing love and care for me. You have acted, and continue to act, on my behalf. I thank You that I find true delight and Hope in Your holy Word! In the Name of Jesus, the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace. Amen!”

March 24- Update | Word of Hope & Comfort

A Word of Comfort and Hope from God’s Word

The Word for today is from Psalm 91: 4… “He will cover you with His feathers, and under HIS wings YOU will find REFUGE!”   This is a wonderfully “illustrative way” for Jesus to describe His love, protection, care and watchfulness over us – in a similar way as a loving mother bird (hen) would fiercely defend, protect and PROVIDE REFUGE for her little ones!  Jesus may have had this passage in mind when He lamented over the heard-heartedness of the people of Jerusalem who refused to repent and be forgiven. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem….how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.” (Matthew 23:37 and Luke 13: 34)  Be sure to look up these passages for your own reading and devotions!

Let us pray…. “We thank You, Heavenly Father, for the everlasting love You pour out on us, and for the almighty power You exercise on our behalf. Grant us courage, confidence and peace as we remember that You keep us safely in Your Fatherly protection and care. We thank You for sending Your holy angels to watch over us. In the powerful Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen!”

March 23- Youth Ministry Update

Parents and Youth,

As of today we are postponing ALL youth ministry events, Middle School and High School, through Easter. We will reassess after Easter to see how Covid-19 is still affecting our lives. I am working with the Youth Leadership Team to create an web-based Bible Study and small group plan that we hope to share with all of you tomorrow.

For Middle School youth ministry Pam and I are still working on how we can best support our middle school youth during this time…more to come.

Our focus at Holy Cross has been to provide web-based worship and transition our day school to online. Pam and I have been working with both of these this week and hope to have more within youth ministry in the coming days.

If you have any ideas on how youth ministry can better CONNECT with each other, GROW in Christ, or REACH out into the community please email, text, or call Pam or I. Once we get some of our logistics figured out for the CONNECTING and GROWING then we want to work as the body of Christ to REACH through human care, compassion, and prayer to our members, community, and families.

In Christ Jesus,

Brian Amey
Minister of Youth and Young Adults

March 17- Update | Word of Hope & Comfort

A Word of Hope and Comfort from God’s Word

“Don’t worry about anything, instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers. If you do this, YOU will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep YOUR thoughts and YOUR heart quiet and at rest as YOU trust in Christ Jesus.”    (Philippians 4: 6-7)

                      Let us pray….

  “Dear Lord,

You know the difficult things with which I am dealing. You know MY mind won’t let ME stop thinking about everything. I feel stressed and unsettled. I’m worried about what is going to happen. Please take MY burdens and the “what ifs” from ME. Help ME to focus MY thoughts on YOU and not to worry about the future. Please, help ME to take one day at a time. Please, lead and guide ME. Take control of MY situation and life. Please, give ME Your wisdom and fill Me with Your peace. In the Name of Jesus, I ask all these things, confidently!  Amen and Amen!”

March 13- Update

Dear fellow Redeemed,

Amidst the uncertainties of life in this world corrupted by sin, we are comforted and encouraged by the words of Jesus, Himself, “I have told you these things, so that you may have peace in Me. In this world you are going to have trouble. But be courageous! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Like all of you, we at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School are paying close attention to what is going on in the world and our own backyards with the global outbreak of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).  We wanted to share with you some thoughts on how we can help and support each other as we all get through this pandemic together.

First, amidst any other uncertainty you might be faced with right now, we want to assure you that we will meet as planned for Saturday evening (6 p.m.) and Sunday morning (8:15 and 11:00 a.m.) worship services in the days to come and hope that you can gather with us. If you are unable to be with us due to travel or other reasons, we encourage you to listen to weekly sermons online by clicking/tapping here.

ALL Holy Cross Facilities (Church and School) are sanitized daily – including doors, handrails and other frequently touched surfaces. The pastors and communion assistants will all be washing their hands (and using sanitizer) before and after communion distribution.

YOU can help by…

  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. (Washing your hands kills the virus on your hands and prevents the spread of COVID-19.)
  • Using the hand sanitizing stations when soap and water are not readily available. Carry hand sanitizer in your purse or pockets.
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Covering your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • Staying home when you are sick.
  • Following these helpful links to medical sites:

If you are not able to join us, in-person for worship, please remember that you can still give to the LORD by making your offerings to the LORD from home and when you are away. To do so, you can:

  • set up your online giving here
  • use the Give+ app (available in App Store or Google Play).  If you choose to do so, you can find Holy Cross Lutheran Church (not the school) by searching zip code 67206.  Once you have it set up, it is super easy to give this way.

We pray that our loving Lord would guide us safely and swiftly through these days of uncertainty and anxiety. If we may assist you or your family in any way, please contact us (316-684-5201).

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Scott Snow
