News & C19 Resources

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Philippians 4: 6

During these ever changing times, we remember that God is our refuge & strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).  The Holy Cross team continues to be in prayer & discussion to seek the Lord’s leading on the best next steps for our church. We will continue to monitor all updates from the CDC & other health outlets as we stay flexible to modify our schedule & ministries until the current public health crisis subsides and we can gather together again.  As decisions are made regarding weekly events & Worship at Holy Cross we will continue to update you here as well as through email & social media.

Words of Hope & Comfort from God's Word

A Word of Hope and Comfort from God’s Word

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”  Prov. 3:5-6

We pray…. “Forgive me, Lord, for the anxieties from placing my trust in the things of this world – the media and numerous media sources and the opinions of others. Thank You for those who do have knowledge and plans that are helpful for all, help their voices to be heard. Protect me and others from the plans of those who are not concerned about the truth, nor welfare of others but only their own agenda. As I regularly read Your Word and Your Word is in me, give me a loving heart and life to point others to You, the source of truth and life.   Amen!”

+ NEW… Due to the generosity of those who recently planned, organized and served the “Wonderful Weekend Meals,” prepared by School Chef Ashley Mayes, the Holy Cross LOVE Fund was aided greatly! (This fund was established many years ago to be used, primarily, at the discretion of the pastors and the Business Manager, as a way to provide “one-time assistance” to Holy Cross members and members of the community who presented a legitimate need for assistance with paying for food, a portion of their utilities, rent, gas in order to get to work, etc.)  LOVE fund gifts have recently assisted in partial rent payments ($2,500) for two Holy Cross members and someone suggested to us by Kansans for Life; ($20) for gas money for a Holy Cross Visitor; ($250) to assist with medical bills for an Embrace mother who chose not to have an abortion. Contributions continue to be welcome.
+ NEW… This weekend we will be introducing a new bulletin format. The smaller size will allow us to save on printing costs while still providing you all of the information about worship, news and events. The smaller format does not allow us to print out the words to the hymns in the bulletin. However, single sheets with the words will be available for you at the Visitor’s Center.
+ You are encouraged to bring your face mask and wear it for worship on Saturday night (6 p.m.) and the early Sunday service (8:15 a.m.) as a way to demonstrate care for yourself and for others.  As we wait for this pandemic to come to an end, we seek to show our love to those around us and to do all things to the glory and honor of God. For the sake of those who are concerned to come to worship at Holy Cross because others are not wearing face coverings, we will observe a “MASKS-only service” at the 11:00 a.m. service. We will continue this practice until further notice. Out of loving, Christian care for your sisters and brothers, please do NOT attend the 11:00 a.m. service unless you wear a mask. If you come for worship, and accidentally forget yours, we will provide one for you.
Please read “4 Reasons to Wear a Mask, Even if You Hate It” by clicking HERE.
+ LAST WEEKEND… (July 25 & 26), we gathered safely for “In-Person” worship services. The message: “Priceless Treasure!” (Matthew 13:44-46) continues to be available online. Click HERE.
+ LAST SUNDAY … we celebrated Pastor Bohlmann’s Installation service.  You can watch this by clicking HERE.

A Word of Hope and Comfort from God’s Word

“You did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption. And by Him, we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children… co-heirs with Christ…” Romans 8:15-17

We pray… Abba, Father, we come to You as Your dear children, fearful of many things: our health and safety in this pandemic; the political situation in our country and around the world; the uncertainties of our jobs and income; special needs of our family and friends. Thank You for adopting us through the waters of Holy Baptism, Your promise and Word, and giving us Your Spirit. Work in us and through us to share this comforting truth with those who live in fear and uncertainty so they too might know of Your Fatherly love for all. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Word of Hope and Comfort from God’s Word

‘“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 1 Corinthians 12:9-10

We pray…  I thank You, Heavenly Father for Your reminder and promise to the Apostle Paul and to me – that when I feel weakest, I am most able to see Your love, mercy, grace and power at work in my life. Through whatever hardships, persecutions and difficulties I may be facing now, give me Your peace, strength, confidence and joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Word of Hope and Comfort from God’s Word

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2

We pray… Praise and thanks that You set me free; free from the guilt and condemnation of the law, but free in Jesus Christ! As we celebrate our national blessing of independence and freedom, we thank You for the military men and women, the elected leaders, the families and all who made and continue to make this freedom possible. Keep us as Your faithful citizens both on this side of heaven and always ready for the glorious side! Amen.

+ The “Weekly Word of Hope” comes to you from Holy Cross, Wichita, KS. Our goal continues to be to “keep you informed throughout these changing times.” This up-to-date information is, once again, available through weekend Worship Announcements and our “Life at Holy Cross” publication. You may always call the church office (684-5201) for further information or clarification.

+ NEW… You are encouraged to bring your face mask and wear it for worship; both as a means of safety for yourself and for others. As we wait for this pandemic to come to an end, we seek to do all things to the glory and honor of God and in service to our neighbors.
