Columbarium Interest Survey

“I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.”

Psalm 16:8

Some Holy Cross members have expressed interest in our buiding a Columbarium on the grounds of Holy Cross.
Before we move forward with planning such a project, we’d like to see what overall congregational interest there may be in us building a Columbarium.  To share your opinion, please complete the form at the bottom of this page.
What is a Columbarium?

What is a Columbarium?

For Christian people, the consecrated ground of the Church is a most fitting final resting place for earthly remains. Cremation makes this possible. A Columbarium could be constructed in an area set aside for the inurnment of the cremated remains and memorial plaques of those who have died in Christ.

What would it look like?

The picture here is an example of a Columbarium. This structure shows the individual niches which may contain 2 urns. Individual niches would also be available. Cremains within a niche would be identified with name, DOB and DOD engraved on the cover of each niche. Benches might also be constructed near the Columbarium where relatives & friends who wish to honor loved ones would have the opportunity any time of year to visit that resting place.

The purpose of this survey is to discover if there is congregational interest to pursue this endeavor and related location and costs.  The project would be to build a Columbarium near the Sanctuary where the great spiritual events of our Christian life-Baptism, Confirmation, Communion, Marriage, and the daily Worship of God-are celebrated.
